Tuesday 28th March

I didn’t sleep well last night.  The pillows were huge, but filled with goose down or something and compressed to about 2cm.  Bugs flew into my face and hair, and at about 445am the rooster started his business.  Managed to get an extra hour from 7-8am, but not ideal.  For Rory, this was the day of the pool.  I think she spent more hours in the water than out, and the resulting sunburn on face and legs showed.  For the rest of us it was a chill day, Rob and I went for a walk along the shoreline, and hopped in this incredible rock pool right against the ocean.  We were in and out the pool as well, disappointingly only one pina colada today though.

We had lunch in a small pergola style area near the water – it was a “non-spicy” curry.  Still too spicy for me, but there were a bunch of summer rolls that I smashed.  Spilt my rum and coke on one of the dogs “Sid”.  He took it pretty well, just decided to move away.  I checked in later we’re still cool.

After lunch Rob and I went for a snorkel out in the ocean.  It was pretty good for just random snork, fish everywhere.  Coral was mostly bland colours, but there was the occasional flash of brilliance, and the peninsulas underwater were cool.  Like usual, my face started hurting from the mask fairly early on in the piece, I think most masks just don’t fit my face type.  I guess they don’t make masks for extremely good looking people?

Late arvo Lizl, Rory, Phoenix and I went down to the rock pool and chilled there for a bit.  It took some convincing to get Rory out the pool to go into another pool.

Dinner was French – beef chops, chicken, salad, mashed tata.  Very yummy.  Dessert was a “light” lemon pie thing, we finished it all and was told later that weren’t supposed to.. oh well.

Afterwards we sat outside and star gazed, the sky was amazing – we could easily see the Milky Way.  I used the astrophotography setting on my phone which was pretty impressive.  Then it was time for bed.  Romina had also found some other pillows for me to try, one of which did the job.  In bed by 10:30pm!

Points of note:

  • Classic sunburn on the shoulders, is… is this my thing?  LITERALLY pumping the aloe.
  • Fought with the music player, lucky I’m a computer expert guru and got it working – Nakatumble spotify account now follows my amazing playlist, and while the internet was up I downloaded my whole playlist so it can play offline.  I’m the music man, and everyone (as usual) must listen to my taste in music.
  • Romina told us her and Bill’s origin story for Vanuatu, sounds like she was a loan shark previously.
