Friday 7th April

Last night Phoenix woke up at about 11pm, and put himself back down.   But at 12am, he decided that sleep was not required, and cry screamed for 10 minutes before I got up.   Tried to settle him, Lizl tried to offer him water (he threw it out the cot), and eventually I managed to get him to lie down quietly, but only if my hand was on his chest through the bars of the cot.   After about an hour I was allowed to go back to bed.   He was then up just after 5am, but Lizl let me sleep in this morning bless her, and I was up at about 7:30am. Breakfast was the same, this time everyone except Rob declined the cooked breakfast.   We hopped in the pool for a morning swim, and then at around 10:30am the girls (this time including Rory and Elle) went to get another massage.    Rob and I looked after the boys.   By this I mean the nanny carried Phoenix around and I avoided eye contact.   The girls came back soon after it stopped raining, having all e...

Phoenix woke up at 4:30am this morning, and then slept for another hour in our bed, but Lizl and I didn’t really.   I might need an arvo nap.   Soon after getting up we received a notification – our flights had been cancelled.   Rob and Lizl sprang to action, and figured out that we could stay here an extra day and catch a flight home on Virgin Airlines on Saturday.   I had been looking forward to getting home to be honest, but there are worse places to be stuck.   Cooler ones too. Brekkie was pretty good – muesli, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, and a personalised cooked breakfast too (which I declined).   I had a quick dip in the pool along with Lizl and Phoenix, then Lizl and Lisa were off to a full body massage.   It sounded like it was very good.   The rest of the afternoon was mostly relaxed – both Lizl and I managed a nap, but it wasn’t really enough – I didn’t manage to do much other that mentally prepare for the afternoon sun.   I fo...

This was our last day at Nakatumble, and we had to get out by 10am.  I was up at about 6am thanks to a mozzie (I got her, but it was enough to wake me up).  Then everyone was in packing mode.  With the nannies to look after the kids it was pretty easy, Lizl and I even snuck in a swim.  There were lots of goodbyes and hugs, Romina teared up and all the nannies/helper ladies turned up to see us off.  Bill got a photo of everyone in front of the pool. When our transport turned up, I was a bit concerned to see it was a twin cab Hilux.  How would 8 of us + the driver fit in?  Maybe another car was coming?  Nope, everyone doubled with a kid, which was especially good on a hot day with aircon that couldn’t quite keep up.  Fortunately about half way down Devil’s Point Road there was a bus waiting for us – they just didn’t want to chance trying to drive the bus on that terrible road so they had sent a ute for the worst of it.  The bus had good ai...
